Unable to Mount iPhone on Ubuntu 10.10

A few weeks ago I acquired an iPhone 4. At this time I am convinced that he is a great device. The problem is that I have Linux (Ubuntu) on all my computers and Apple has not created a version of iTunes compatible with this operating system. As well I have a 4th generation iPod and I was accustomed to work, at least to see the files in a USB memory without doing anything. Simply plugged into a USB port. Well, this time not the case, for the IOS version 4.2.1 brings the iPhone. On the contrary, as soon as I connect an error message appeared that said:

Unable to mount iPhone_ org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply DBus error: MESSAGE DID NOT RECEIVE A REPLY (TIMEOUT MESSAGE BY BUS)

What you have to get it to work is to add the repository to Paul McEnery and update your system with the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmcenery/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

The last command I do not forfeited preferred to run the “Update Manager”, because it gave me confidence for an update on other things for that repository, but I checked and only provide updates to the following packages:
galinette
iFuse
ipheth
libgpod
libimobiledevice
LinuxTV-dvb-apps
nftytool
slimrat
usbmuxd
xmltv

and I think actually the update that fixes the problem with the iPhone is the libgpod package and iFuse.
If you’re still paranoid, once you remove updated libraries and repositories will continue to operate.

Note:
I tried to copy some songs to iPhone with Rythmbox did not work, the progress bar appears as if they were copying, but no. I think libgpod supports only read-only access in iOS 4.2 by far. For now it is enough for me because what interested me was to download the photos and videos from the camera.
